Mission: It's... A Bus Station
Location: Finnegan's sister's house
Timeline: April 27th

Monday came and found Finn drying off after his shower. Most of the people in the house wouldn’t be up for another hour or two. He liked to get up early, so he could shower, without tying up the bathroom. Plus he could make coffee and eat something before he had to go to work. He had to be to work by five thirty. On the counter, next to the sink, His cell phone began to vibrate and it showed an incoming call from his supervisor. He quickly dried off his hand and swiped to allow the call. “Cody, what's going on? I was about to head to work in an hour.”

The voice on the other side of the phone sighed. “Save you the trip, Finn. They got shut down. The IRS had been watching the owner. Guess he had a lot of shady side work going on. FBI and the DEA are in this too.”

Finn blinked. “Wait. What?” He asked. “Run that by me again. Who got shut down?”

“Fleet Feet. They got closed by the IRS and the FBI. No one is working today and it looks like ever again for that company. The lot is chained up, agents are all over the place and none of management is here. We even have a news crew here.”

“So I got a day off now?” Finnegan pondered.

“Looks like you can start your vacation early.”

Finn thought about it for a moment, then he asked a question that could impact him and his sister. “And our next paychecks?”

“Finn, every check from Friday bounced. I’ll guess you didn’t check your bank balance yet? You’d see we all got the shaft.”

“For some reason, my check never hits my bank until Monday at six am.” Finn sighed. “Sorry about all this.”

“Finn, this is No fault of yours. But for now, we all need to move on. I’d stay in town, or it may look suspicious. The owner is trying to throw us all under the bus. Look, I’ll call later, but for now I still got a bunch of people to contact.”

“Thanks man. I’ll talk to you later.”

Finn hung up his phone and sat on the edge of the bathtub. He had plans to be gone Wednesday. As were his sister and her family. A church retreat. Now he could actually show up early. And money wasn’t too tight, not with a settlement from his wife’s death. He could still live for a year or so without even working. Work just helped him get through the day.

--

Twenty minutes after getting dressed, he had taken a quick drive to his place of work. And as his boss had told him, there were agents around the place. He went up to one and after speaking to them for a few minutes, and giving out his contact information, he went back home.

At six thirty his sister and her wife were coming down the stairs, Finn was in the kitchen, making breakfast for them, and for his niece and nephew, who both had school. His sister paused by him and then looked to the clock. “Um, shouldn’t you be at work?”

“Cody called. I guess they got shut down by the IRS. I’m out of a job. I went down and talked to the agents. It really happened.” Finn replied. He looked at her and shrugged. “Door closes.”

“Window opens?” Lori, his sister asked.

Finnegan shrugged as the kids rushed in. Before they could open the fridge to get milk, he handed them each a plate with eggs and bacon. “Yeah. He said the owner is trying to blame all of us. Don’t leave town and all of that. So I guess I got some free time now. Problem will be finding a new job so I can help with my share of the rent. But I can run the trailer to the church camp today or tomorrow.”

“This isn’t your fault. We can make due with what we got.” His sister said to him. "Remember, they only have a few spaces, so we're staying with you, as are the Rodriguez couple." His sister told him.

“Sis, I need to work.” He offered her a plate, while her wife, Sue came in. Finnegan gave her a plate, then he sat at the table in his sister’s kitchen and read the local job offerings on the internet. "And yeah, I forgot."

As they ate, and he read, a noise from upstairs caught their attention. The sound of someone coming down the steps. He began to rise, holding his cane like a bat. "Stay here." The only thing left upstairs should have been cats. Both his black and white cat, Phantom. And a Black cat with white paws named Dr. Claw. Neither were fat enough to make the stairs creak.

Just as he was about to step into the living room, where the stairs were located, a figure turned the corner. He gasped. His niece let out a squeaking gasp sound. His sister muttered a curse word. Moving towards him was the figure of a woman. Though she had no legs, she was floating in the air. She was completely see through. And paid no attention to any of them.

The ghost turned the corner and headed through the basement door. “Um. Tell me someone else saw that too.” Finn’s sister in law stated.

“Yeah. That was...” Finn said as he looked to his sister. “That was different.”
